What To Expect

Give Me That Old-Time Religion!

We begin each service with a Scripture reading from the King James Bible. We sing the old hymns you grew up with. We believe in a time of heartfelt corporate prayer during worship. We have a piano and pipe organ and use them in congregational singing at each service. We also enjoy special music each week with various instruments such as piano, pipe organ, violin, mandolin and guitar. We love southern gospel music, with an occasional bluegrass gospel selection. There are responsive readings from the King James Bible, and of course, some good old fashioned preaching! (See our Media page for a sample selection of our sermons and music.) You can expect the teaching of the Word of God to be uncompromised and delivered in sincerity and truth. (1 Corinthians 5:8)

This is a friendly church with a wonderful time of fellowship following each worship service. We stand firm on the Word of Almighty God for the Holy Bible is our guide book to live by. There are no modern translations or modern religion around here. We do things the old way because we feel it is the good and best way. "Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls." (Jeremiah 6:16) If ever there was a time when we needed to get back to the old way and find rest for our souls it is today! If this is what you have been looking for, then you have found it.

Our beautiful chapel was constructed in 1911, and replaced a smaller church building that dated to the early days of the city in 1882. We worship the Lord "in the beauty of holiness" (Psalm 29:2; 96:9) surrounded by nearly thirty beautiful large stain glass windows and handsome carved and padded pews. See the About Us page for the history of our church building.

We gather for a great time of old-fashioned worship each Sunday at 11 AM, and weeknight Bible studies are on Wednesdays at 7 PM downstairs. We have a free congregational dinner in our banquet room downstairs after each Sunday service, and visitors are warmly invited to come as our guests at no obligation. We do not pass the offering plate at any of our services or events; an offering box is in the sanctuary for those who would like to contribute to our ministry. We are easy-going, and worship attire can be either formal with suits/dresses, or simply casual wear, entirely your choice. Plenty of free parking is available either in front, the side, or behind the church. Join us! You will enjoy our heartfelt worship and find a warm welcome!
